WRECCLESHAM TENNIS CLUB

Reformed in 1967

Welcome to Farnham's Wrecclesham Tennis Club

Wrecclesham Tennis Club is in Farnham and situated on the recreation ground in Riverdale, Wrecclesham. The club was reformed in 1967 on the site of a previous club which had existed in the 1930's with just one grass court, today members enjoy playing on 4 hard courts, 3 of which are floodlit.

We are always in need of new members

We are delighted to have been awarded a Sports England Lottery grant towards our new clubhouse project

We have been trying to get this project off the ground for 4 years but despite a lot of hard work applying for grants and lots of saving and fundraising we were struggling to achieve our goal.

Thanks to the Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund providing us with a grant of £34,280, which covers about half the cost of the project we can now achieve our new clubhouse. We will  have sufficient funds to complete our project and provide a first class tennis facility for the local community that is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. When we have our up to date  welcoming clubhouse and accessible club area  we can be able to take forward the club development plans with such projects as local schools using the courts free of charge and promotion of wheelchair tennis led by our club coach. We would also like to thank Waverley Borough Council who have awarded us a grant towards the demolition costs.
Please see the Sport England web site and put ‘wrecclesham’ in the search option for the full press release of the cheque handover ceremony with the 2 other SW Surrey sports organisations who were awarded grants. Jeremy Hunt MP and Secretary of State for Culture Media and Sport and Jennie Price Chief Executive for Sport England were there to present the award. This fund is part of the Olympic legacy to grass roots sport organisations to encourage people to play sport.
Our project will start on 19 March 2012 with the demolition of the existing clubhouse. We hope to have the new timber clubhouse up and completed by 23 April. The flooring and cupboards should be done by mid May and the site tidied and new path completed by the end of May.
We are planning our grand opening on Saturday 14 July. This will be after Wimbledon and before the Olympics start. It will give us time to make sure everything is completed and the club is looking good. We plan to make it a really good celebration after all the hard work.
